Lviv Attacked Early Sunday: Electricity Out, City Transportation Halted

Reports from western Ukraine said that a large coordinated Russian attack had halted public transportation and caused partial electricity outages in Lviv.

Lviv’s electricity was partially cut off following a Russian coordinated attack early Sunday morning, and public transportation has been halted in the city, according to reports.

“Part of Lviv is without power. This includes the Riasne and Levandivka districts. We are clarifying the details,” Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi posted on Telegram.

According to a report by RBC-Ukraine, Sadovyi said public transportation in Lviv is currently not operating, due to a massive enemy attack. He also warned:

“Please stay safe! Going outside is dangerous right now.”

Several large fires were ignited in the city, with columns of black smoke with possible hazardous fumes, according to the mayor Telegram post:

“After the Russian strikes, several fires are still burning in the city, so it is important to protect yourself from possible harmful fumes and smoke. Do not rush outside immediately after the air raid alert ends. Emergency services are already on site.”

  • At around 04:30 (0130 UTC), the first explosions in the city were caused by an attack with Shahed strike drones.
  • At around 05:22 (0222 UTC), Lviv was hit by Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea.
  • Later, reports emerged of incoming cruise missiles and further explosions. at around 06:00 (0300 UTC), powerful explosions shook Lviv as the city was struck by Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles launched from MiG-31 fighters.
