A major fire ripped through a factory in Novosibirsk, a city deep in Russia’s rear nearly 3,000 kilometers (1,860 miles) east of Kyiv. The blaze reportedly affected a facility supplying materials to Russia’s defense industry, according to local media and eyewitness reports shared on Telegram.
The fire broke out at Zavod Pripoyev, a company specializing in metal products—including solders, alloys, and babbitts—serving industrial clients across Russia and other CIS countries. The factory also lists the defense sector among its customers, suggesting links to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
Novosibirsk is located deep in Russia’s rear, nearly 3,000 kilometers (about 1,860 miles) east of Kyiv.
According to the independent Telegram channel ASTRA, the fire engulfed a warehouse covering roughly 2,000 square meters. Over 70 firefighters and 23 fire engines responded, with a fire train brought in to help extinguish the flames.
Russian media RIA Novosti cited the Emergency Ministry as saying the fire has been localized and that no casualties were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Zavod Pripoyev produces non-ferrous metals including tin, lead, zinc, copper, and silver – materials commonly used in electronics and military components. Neither Russian nor Ukrainian officials have commented on whether the fire will affect defense production.
