The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SSO) carried out overnight drone strikes on several oil depots and fuel storage sites in Russian-occupied Crimea, hitting key logistics hubs and setting off large fires, the military said Wednesday.
The SSO reported on Telegram that its drones struck the “Hvardiyske” oil depot near the village of Hvardiyske, destroying a large fuel tank that was full at the time. Two trains loaded with fuel were also hit at a nearby loading terminal, according to the statement.
Other strikes targeted oil depots and fuel warehouses in Simferopol and the nearby village of Bitumne, where several storage tanks were destroyed and multiple fires broke out.
“The Special Operations Forces continue to act asymmetrically to counter the enemy’s military capabilities,” the unit said.
The reported attack is part of a broader campaign by Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces to strike deep into Russian-controlled territory, targeting supply chains and logistics hubs supporting Moscow’s war effort.
On Nov. 4, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces — working together with the Russian insurgent group Chernaya Iskra (“Black Spark”) — carried out a joint operation in Russia’s Kursk region, striking an Iskander transport-loader near the village of Ovsyannikovo.
“This vehicle was used to transport, load, and prepare missiles for launch, which were then fired at Ukraine,” the SSO said.
The Iskander missile complex consists of six types of vehicles, 51 in total per missile brigade, including 12 transport-loading vehicles, each capable of carrying two additional missiles.
Each transport-loader weighs around 40 tons and operates with a crew of two, allowing Russia to conduct simultaneous strikes using both Iskander-K cruise missiles and Iskander-M ballistic missiles.
Earlier, on Nov. 3, the SSO said it destroyed several Russian military logistics facilities in the occupied Luhansk region. A fuel unloading site near the city of Dovzhansk was hit, while a supply warehouse near the village of Rozkishna was destroyed.
According to the SSO, those strikes disrupted Russian logistics and caused fuel shortages within the Kremlin’s “Center” military grouping. “The best battle is the one the enemy fails to show up for,” the SSO said in its update.
