The number of people killed in the Russian missile strike on Ternopil has risen to 31, including six children, authorities said on Thursday.
Rescue teams working at the site of the destroyed building found three more bodies on Thursday – a woman and two children, the National Police of Ukraine reported on Telegram.
Another 94 people were injured, including 18 children.
Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Nov. 19, firing 48 missiles and more than 470 drones across Ukraine. Western regions were among those hit, but Ternopil suffered the worst damage.
Two high-rise buildings were heavily struck. Several upper floors of one building were almost completely destroyed, while the other was engulfed by a fire that swept through dozens of apartments from bottom to top.
All emergency services continue working at the site. Police psychologists and other specialists are providing urgent support to residents.
Authorities said the search for people still missing continues, and identification of the dead is ongoing.
Contact has not yet been restored with 13 people believed to have been in the building at the time of the attack.
By Friday at 7 a.m., officials said workers had removed around 638 tons of debris. The rescue effort now includes 181 personnel and 52 pieces of equipment.
