Naftogaz and Poland’s ORLEN have signed a final agreement for the delivery of 300 million cubic meters of US-sourced liquefied natural gas to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026, the companies said on Friday.
US LNG delivered through Poland and Greece is part of Naftogaz’s broader effort to diversify gas imports and secure heating for the 2025–2026 winter, despite Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and domestic production.
The deal follows a letter of intent signed on Nov. 7 in Greece during the P-TEC energy conference. The company announced the final supply numbers on Friday.
The contract finalizes imports of the US LNG through Polish ORLEN – 600 million cubic meters in 2025 and 300M cu. m. in the first quarter of 2026.
“Overall, in 2026 we expect US LNG imports to reach 1 billion cubic meters. I am grateful to our Polish partners for their trust,” the press release quoted Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi.
The LNG will be re-gasified at Poland’s Swinoujscie terminal and shipped to Ukraine via the Polish-Ukrainian border.
“Only a several days passed between the signing of the letter of intent and the conclusion of the final contract. During that time, we refined all the contractual details and obtained the necessary corporate approvals. This swift process would not have been possible without mutual trust and a clear understanding of each party’s needs and objectives,” the press release quoted Robert Soszyński, ORLEN’s Vice President of the Management Board for Operations.
Earlier this year, Naftogaz signed four LNG contracts with ORLEN totaling 440M cu. m., including an additional 140M cu. m. purchased in July.
Poland is no longer the sole supplier of US LNG to Ukraine, as Naftogaz Group and Greek state-owned company DEPA Commercial also signed a letter of intent to supply US natural gas to Ukraine, via the Balkans.
