Russian Drones Attack Zaporizhzhia, 19 Wounded

Thirty-one apartment buildings and 20 private homes were damaged, including five buildings hit hardest by large fires. A university dormitory was also struck while people were inside.

Russian forces launched drone attacks on Zaporizhzhia late at night on Tuesday, hitting three districts of the city, officials said.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said Ukrainian forces shot down some of the drones, but the attacks caused significant damage.

Thirty-one apartment buildings and 20 private homes were damaged, including five buildings hit hardest by large fires. A university dormitory was also struck while people were inside.

Nineteen people were injured, eight of whom remain hospitalized. Fedorov said the toll could rise as more residents seek medical help.

The attacks left 358 households without electricity and 201 without gas. About 200 residents sought shelter at city “resilience points,” where evacuees were temporarily warmed in buses before moving to heating centers.

Emergency responders extinguished nine fires and immediately began recovery work. Crews worked overnight to replace windows, repair roofs, and seal apartments.

Some apartment entrances were deemed uninhabitable, and inspections are ongoing to determine repair plans.

Fedorov praised rescuers, medical personnel, municipal workers, and all those who worked through the night to respond to the attacks.
