Russian Drone Strike Sets Zaporizhzhia Apartment Building Ablaze

Two people were injured: a man suffered shrapnel wounds, and a woman was treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. Both received medical care.

A Russian strike drone hit a multi-story residential building in Zaporizhzhia overnight on Tuesday, Dec. 16, triggering a fire that affected four apartments across two floors, authorities said.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, said rescuers quickly evacuated residents, particularly from the upper floors where flames and smoke posed the greatest risk.

Emergency teams, medical personnel, and utility workers responded to the scene. By morning, the fire was fully extinguished.
