37 hours: Hundreds of Trucks Queue at Polish-Ukrainian Border Before Christmas

The queue peaks annually in the run-up to the holidays.

A 24-kilometer queue formed at the Polish-Ukrainian border on Sunday as trucks waited up to 37 hours to clear customs in the run-up to the holiday season.

Deputy Commissioner Kamil Karbowniczek from the Lublin Police said the queue formed back from the Dorohusk border crossing in southeastern Poland.

“Approximately 1,100 trucks are waiting to leave the country on Sunday through the border crossing with Ukraine in Dorohusk,” he said.

“The line is 24 kilometers long and currently stretches between Stołpie and Janów,” he added.

Karbowniczek said the traffic increases every year in the run up to Christmas and New Year.

According to the website granica.gov.pl, the waiting time to cross the border at Dorohusk is 37 hours. Police officers are on site to manage the flow of traffic.
