Ukrainian Trains Defy Russia’s Lights-Out Attacks

“Points of Invincibility” have been around since the first full winter of the full-scale war. Now the trains – true to form – are coming to Ukrainians’ rescue.

Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s state-owned railway company, is providing warmth and convenience in the frigid Kyiv region to help Ukrainians survive the difficult period of power outages after Russian attacks.

The company announced that seven “invincibility cars” are already operating in the Kyiv region, which has been dealing with power outages cause by Russian missile and drone strikes on civilian infrastructure.

The first seven invincibility cars have already been promptly deployed in the powerless Kyiv region: three in Brovary, two in Boryspil and two in Vasylkiv.

Each car can comfortably accommodate about 40 visitors at a time.

In the invincibility cars, you can warm up, charge your devices, connect to the internet thanks to Starlink, and drink free warming tea.

There is also everything you need for children – cartoons, games, coloring books, books and board games.

For passengers with pets, Ukrzaliznytsia has prepared treats in a pet-friendly compartment.

The project was aided by a number of organizations: All Hands and Hearts, World Central Kitchen, White Stork, and the Hachiko Foundation foundations, among others.

The project is being implemented in the Kyiv region with the support of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration together with the Ministry of Community and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Since the Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia has become a crucial node of support for the war effort – providing steady logistics and transporting millions of refugees and visitors from abroad.

Indeed, the railway company has taken pride in consistently better punctuality rates than many European railway systems – notwithstanding continual Russia attacks.
