Russia Launches 37 Drones Overnight, Hits Critical Infrastructure in Kharkiv Region

A Russian drone attack overnight left 16,000 residents in the Kharkiv region without heat after the city’s largest boiler house was knocked out.

Russia launched 37 attack drones across Ukraine overnight into Thursday, Feb. 19, striking energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv region and shelling communities in the south and east, Ukrainian officials said.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defenses shot down 29 of the drones. Several others reached their targets, with confirmed hits in four locations.

The mayor of Lozova in the Kharkiv region Serhii Zelensky said Russian forces struck the city’s critical infrastructure overnight.

The attack knocked out the city’s largest boiler house, which provides heating to approximately 16,000 subscribers. Residents also experienced water supply disruptions as a result of the strike.

No casualties were immediately reported, but local authorities said emergency crews were working to stabilize the situation.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, head of the Regional Military Administration (OVA), Oleksandr Hanzha said Russian forces shelled the Nikopol district with artillery.

Strikes targeted the city of Nikopol and the Pokrovske community. No injuries were reported, and no other areas of the region came under attack overnight.

The Telegram channel Monitor described the night as relatively calm compared to previous large-scale barrages, noting that drone use appeared limited.

The channel suggested Russia may be stockpiling drones for more concentrated attacks amid worsening weather conditions.
