In this episode of World Talks, we are joined by Stefan Korshak, Senior Defense Correspondent at Kyiv Post, to discuss the second day of US-brokered peace talks in Geneva, which unraveled after only two hours.
Military discussions included some technical dialogue, but political negotiations made little progress. While President Zelensky’s remarks suggested movement, Korshak explains that major disagreements over territory remain, and meaningful agreements are still far off.
The discussion also covers Ukraine’s recent opportunistic gains in the Zaporizhzhia region, long-range strikes deep in Russian territory, and how these successes are boosting Ukrainian morale.
We also touch on a recent interview with Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s former army chief and current ambassador to the UK, who revealed disagreements with Zelensky over military strategy and counteroffensives in 2023 in his interview with the Associated Press.
