Rallies Across Europe, US Mark 4th Anniversary of Russia’s Invasion

Demonstrators gathered in cities across Europe and the United States to mark four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and to call for continued support for Kyiv.

Thousands of people plan to gather across Europe and the United States to mark the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, urging governments to maintain political, military and humanitarian support for Kyiv.

Demonstrations across European capitals

In Berlin, Ukrainian and German civic groups called for a solidarity march on Tuesday under the slogan “For Europe’s Future,” according to Berliner Morgenpost. The route was set to run from Lustgarten along Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate. Organizers said the demonstration was meant to show that Germany stands with Ukraine and that the war’s outcome will affect Europe’s security architecture.

In London, Ukraine’s embassy invited supporters to Trafalgar Square for a public commemoration marking four years since the full-scale invasion and 12 years of Russian aggression. The event was expected to bring together British and international public figures, artists and members of the Ukrainian community. Organizers said the rally would underscore that global attention must not drift away from Ukraine amid shifting geopolitical priorities.

In Prague, thousands gathered at Old Town Square for a rally titled “Together for Ukraine,” according to Český rozhlas. Czech President Petr Pavel addressed the crowd, warning that the nature of any future peace would shape Europe’s long-term stability. Organizers described the event as both a commemoration and a reminder that support for Ukraine remains a security issue for the Czech Republic itself.

In Paris, about 2,000 people marched in support of Ukraine, calling for continued assistance and the confiscation of frozen Russian assets. Participants said public solidarity has remained strong even as political debates intensify in France over future military aid. Speakers stressed that the anniversary should serve as a warning against normalizing prolonged war in Europe.

In Luxembourg City, roughly 1,000 people joined a march organized by the LUkraine group, according to the Luxembourg Times. Officials and members of the European Parliament attended the event, expressing continued political backing for Kyiv. Organizers framed the rally as a call for long-term European resilience.

In Budapest, civil society groups held a smaller demonstration and an outdoor exhibition featuring drawings by Ukrainian children affected by the war, Euronews reported. The event included speeches criticizing Russian aggression and urging Hungarian authorities to maintain solidarity with Ukraine. The anniversary also highlighted ongoing political tensions within Hungary over policy toward Kyiv.

Italian news agency ANSA reported that municipal buildings in Milan were illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, alongside solidarity events organized by civic groups.  Organizers linked the anniversary to broader calls for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and for continued backing of international justice mechanisms.

Rally in Washington

In Washington, D.C., demonstrators gathered to show solidarity and urge continued US backing for Ukraine, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Speakers said Ukraine is “holding the line” for democratic countries and warned against signs of political fatigue in Washington. Participants emphasized that sustained military and financial support would be critical in determining the war’s trajectory in its fifth year.
