Andriy Yermak, former head of Ukraine’s presidential office, has taken the helm of a new committee under the National Bar Association aimed at helping victims of armed aggression, shaping compensation mechanisms, and supporting post-war legal recovery in line with European standards.
The committee was initiated by Yermak himself, the association said, and members serve on a voluntary basis.
Yermak has been a licensed lawyer since 1995. His license was suspended in February 2020 when he assumed the presidential post but was restored in January 2026.
Yermak resigned in November amid a corruption scandal involving the state nuclear company Energoatom. Once considered President Volodymyr Zelensky’s closest ally, media reports ranked him the second most powerful person in Ukraine after the president.
Shortly after stepping down, Yermak announced plans to join the front lines. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry later confirmed
for military service.
