Hezbollah Lawmaker Targets Ukrainian Embassy in Beirut with ‘Mossad’ Accusations

In an apparent attempt to link Israel and Ukraine, the Iranian-backed group long held responsible for terrorism against the United States is accusing Kyiv of harboring an Israeli spy.

Ali Ammar, a prominent member of Hezbollah’s “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc in the Lebanese parliament, launched a vitriolic verbal attack on the Ukrainian Embassy in Beirut, accusing the diplomatic mission of harboring an alleged Israeli Mossad agent.

The claims, published by the Hezbollah-affiliated outlet Al-Akhbar on March 14. represent a significant escalation in the Iranian-backed group’s rhetoric against Ukraine.

Ammar alleged that the embassy is not only “sheltering” the individual but is actively working to “smuggle” them out of Lebanon to evade local arrest warrants.

Hezbollah is demanding the handover of a Mossad agent from the Ukrainian embassy in Lebanon, he said. According to their claims, this “agent” managed a “spy network during the 2024 war.”

“Hostility toward Lebanon”

According to the Hezbollah legislator, the individual in question is wanted by the Lebanese judiciary for “planning and committing terrorist acts.” Ammar framed the embassy’s alleged protection of the suspect as a “diplomatic scandal of the highest level” and a “flagrant disregard for Lebanese national security.”

“Any attempt to protect or provide diplomatic cover [for this agent] must be viewed as an act of hostility toward Lebanon and its people, and as a conspiracy with Israel,” Ammar stated.

The MP demanded that the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security agencies force the embassy to hand over the suspect immediately, warning the government not to “succumb to foreign pressure.”

A familiar playbook

The timing of the accusations is notable. As Ukraine continues to counter Russian-Iranian military cooperation – specifically the use of Iranian-made Shahed drones – Hezbollah’s rhetoric in Lebanon has increasingly mirrored Moscow’s propaganda. By branding the Ukrainian mission as a Mossad safehouse, the group is utilizing a classic narrative intended to incite local hostility and delegitimize Kyiv’s diplomatic presence in the Middle East.

Hezbollah’s media arm, Al-Akhbar, has long served as a platform for targeting international entities that oppose the “Axis of Resistance.” Observers note that such public denunciations from high-ranking Hezbollah officials often precede coordinated legal or physical pressure on foreign missions.

Ukraine has frequently highlighted the “strategic alliance of evil” between Moscow and Tehran. In Lebanon, Hezbollah remains the primary proxy for Iranian interests, and this latest move appears designed to paint Ukraine as a “Zionist asset” to a domestic audience already grappling with the spillover of regional conflict.
