Japan’s Terra Drone Corporation and Ukraine’s Amazing Drones LLC, have formed an alliance to integrate Ukrainian battlefield expertise into Japan’s high-tech manufacturing.
Terra Drone Corporation, a Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed leader in drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology, invested in Amazing Drones LLC, a Ukrainian startup, through Terra Drone’s subsidiary Terra Inspectioneering, to accelerate the development of next-generation defense solutions.
The war in Ukraine reshaped modern warfare, proving that cheap drones are increasingly neutralizing expensive conventional weapon systems. To address this shift, Terra Drone entered the defense market to build a base with its global technical experience and Ukraine’s real-world combat data. According to the company, it aims to “counter low-cost threats with low-cost means,” providing more affordable and efficient defense solutions.
The total amount of the investment has not been disclosed.
The companies plan to launch the “Terra A1,” an interceptor drone built to hunt and destroy Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). With a maximum speed of 300 kilometers/hour and a 32-kilometer range, the Terra A1 is significantly faster than typical drones. It uses electric propulsion for high stealth and can handle the entire process from target detection to neutralization in a 15-minute flight, providing a far cheaper alternative to other missile defense systems.
“Merging the knowledge Amazing Drones has cultivated in actual combat with the mass-production technology and quality control know-how possessed by Terra Drone is an extremely significant step,” Toru Tokushige, CEO of Terra Drone Corporation, is quoted in a press release. “Through this partnership, we will supply highly reliable solutions verified in combat environments to the world.”
Amazing Drones LLC began in 2023 as a volunteer initiative by engineers and soldiers before evolving into a specialized manufacturing hub. Maksym Klymenko, CEO of Amazing Drones, noted that the partnership is essential for moving from prototypes to a reliable, large-scale supply of drones capable of operating under heavy electronic warfare and signal jamming.
“I am confident that Terra Drone will be the pillar that brings our technology to the world. Through this partnership, we hope our innovations will help protect more lives,” he stated, according to the press release.
Headquartered in Japan, Terra Drone Corporation is a global leader in industrial drone services, consistently ranked among the top three providers worldwide. According to the information on its website, the company has completed over 3,000 projects in sectors like energy and construction since listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in late 2024. It’s now leveraging its Ukrainian partnership to meet the growing international demand for modern, cost-effective defense technology.
