The Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday, April 28, that cases of insufficient food supply to certain frontline units must not become systemic, adding it is working with the General Staff to address the issue.
The statement followed reported shortages affecting units, including the 30th Mechanized Brigade, 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, and 108th Territorial Defense Brigade.
The ministry cited a “demonstrative” case in the 14th Mechanized Brigade, where an investigation by the Ground Forces is underway. The brigade commander has been removed from his post, and those responsible will be held accountable.
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky has ordered commanders of operational groupings and corps to inspect supply conditions for troops along the front line by May 20, the update says.
The ministry also warned that distorted or inaccurate reporting on the battlefield situation would lead to direct consequences for responsible officials.
Last week, Ukraine’s military admitted its troops are facing serious supply problems near the Kupyansk sector in eastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, after images of emaciated Ukrainian soldiers spread online.
At the time, the General Staff said supply lines near Kupyansk have been badly hit by Russian strikes on river crossings.
Officials said troops are now being supplied by boats and heavy drones, but warned this is limited and dangerous.
