A drone attack hit Russia’s Yaroslavl region, about 250 km from Moscow, prompting authorities to close traffic on a highway leading toward the capital.
Early on Friday, Yaroslavl regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev said the region had come under a Ukrainian drone attack, according to Ukrainska Pravda, citing public Russian channels.
“Our region was subjected to an attack by Ukrainian UAVs,” Yevrayev said.
“For safety reasons, traffic has been closed on the exit from Yaroslavl toward Moscow,” he added.
Yevrayev later said emergency services were working at the site and that there were no reported casualties.
A Russian Telegram channel, Shot, reported that, according to local residents, around 20 explosions were heard in Yaroslavl. However, the drone struck an industrial facility causing a fire.
The traffic closure affected the exit from Yaroslavl toward Moscow near the intersection of Moskovsky Prospekt and the South-Western Ring Road.
