KYIV, UKRAINE – More than a thousand years of rich European history can now be experienced in English at one of Eastern Europe’s most revered cultural treasures.
Kyiv’s iconic Saint Sophia Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site and golden-domed architectural masterpiece, has officially launched a new English-language audio guide for international visitors.
Founded in the 11th century by Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Saint Sophia Cathedral stands as a testament to Kyiv’s ancient history and cultural significance. When its foundations were laid, Kyiv was already a thriving political, economic and cultural center of Europe.
The cathedral’s majestic mosaics, centuries-old frescoes and distinctive architecture offer visitors a direct link to the golden age of Kyivan Rus.
The voice guiding international visitors through the cathedral’s historic halls belongs to Andy Hunder, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham Ukraine).
“Walking through Saint Sophia is a journey through a thousand years of resilience, faith, and grandeur,” Hunder says. “It is an absolute honor to be part of this extraordinary project and help bring Kyiv’s rich history to life for English speakers from across the globe.”
He warmly invites diplomats, visitors, expats and tourists to visit the cathedral, use the new audio guide and discover the history of one of Kyiv’s most iconic landmarks.
