Russian forces launched 1,019 strikes across 52 settlements in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours, killing two people and wounding 10, regional authorities reported Wednesday.
The casualties were recorded in Zaporizhzhia city and the surrounding district, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
The scale of the assault included 717 drones of various types – predominantly first-person-view (FPV) drones – as Moscow continued to pound communities across the region.
Russian forces also carried out 19 airstrikes against 13 settlements, including Komyshuvakha, Novomykolaivka, Tavriiske, Yuliivka, Orikhiv and several communities closer to the front line.
Another 276 artillery strikes hit more than 20 settlements, while Russian multiple-launch rocket systems carried out seven attacks.
Among the communities targeted by drones were Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka and dozens of smaller settlements across the region.
Authorities received 192 reports of damage to homes, vehicles and infrastructure following the attacks.
In Zaporizhzhia city, Russian strikes damaged residential buildings and sparked a fire. Earlier reporting from local authorities said one person had been killed and six wounded in that attack before the regional casualty toll was updated to two dead and 10 injured across Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding district.
The region remains one of the most heavily attacked areas of Ukraine, with Russian forces using drones, guided aerial bombs, artillery and rocket systems against communities both near and behind the front line.
