At least 35 people were injured, including a two-month-old infant as Russian forces struck Ukraine nationwide, including in Kramatorsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The strikes was reported in a series of updates published by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) on Telegram.
The heaviest attack targeted Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, where Russian forces dropped nine guided aerial bombs (KABs) during the day, injuring 24 people. The barrage damaged 34 multi-story residential buildings, three administrative buildings and an infrastructure facility.
The strikes on Kramatorsk also caused four fires. Rescuers opened the doors of locked apartments and brought four residents to safety.
“Due to the threat of repeated strikes, emergency workers were forced to suspend operations several times and take shelter,” the SES said.
FPV drone targets SES ambulance
Russian forces targeted emergency crews responding to the Kramatorsk attack with a first-person-view (FPV) drone, damaging an armored SES ambulance vehicle near a nine-story residential building.
No personnel were reported injured. The SES said it was the second reported attack on rescuers carrying out their duties in the past week.
Russia is known to frequently carry out “double-tap” strikes, a tactic that targets first responders and emergency crews arriving at the scene of an earlier attack.
Four injured in Kharkiv drone strike
Four people were injured after a Russian jet-powered drone struck the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv, where the attack hit a private residential area, setting a vehicle on fire.
Residential homes, outbuildings, and other civilian infrastructure was damaged.
Despite the possibility of “double-tap” attacks, rescuers extinguished the blaze, while the SES psychologists provided assistance to residents experiencing acute stress reactions.
Seven injured as Russian forces strike Zaporizhzhia
A Russian drone strike in one of Zaporizhzhia’s districts injured seven people, according to the SES.
Nine passenger vehicles caught fire at a parking lot after the drone struck a parking lot. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which covered 150 square meters (roughly 1,615 square feet).
The SES said all injured people were receiving necessary medical care, while casualty information is still being clarified.
