Russia launched a fresh drone attack on Kyiv on Thursday, just hours after an overnight barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeted the capital and the Kyiv region.
Russia’s fresh drone assault on the capital continued throughout Thursday morning, with waves of attack drones launched in groups from around 8 a.m. until approximately 12:40 p.m., according to Kyiv Post’s correspondents based in Kyiv.
Kyiv Post reporters in the Solomianskyi district heard repeated explosions, air defense fire and fighter jets flying overhead as Ukrainian forces worked to intercept the drones.
Several Russian drones or their debris fell in central Kyiv during the attack, according to preliminary information. A fire was reported at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium, near Khreshchatyk Street, while another fire broke out in Holosiivskyi District after drone debris fell.
Smoke could be seen rising near Olimpiiska metro station in the heart of the capital.

The drone assault continued for several hours, with residents repeatedly forced to take shelter in metro stations and bomb shelters as Russian drones approached the city.
