Russian attacks across the Kyiv region on Friday killed one person and injured at least nine others, while 165 people were evacuated after a strike on an enterprise triggered a massive fire and secondary explosions in the Bucha district.
The latest casualties were reported late Friday after a Russian drone struck or crashed into the territory of an enterprise in the village of Myla at around 8:10 p.m., according to preliminary information from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said six people were injured and 165 evacuated from the area as a large fire spread to nearby private homes.
Fires at five houses and a food establishment were extinguished, while emergency crews, police and medics remained at the scene.
One private house was destroyed and seven others damaged in the incident. A fire engine and a residential facility for elderly people were also damaged.
Prosecutors have opened an investigation into possible official negligence and said investigators would examine whether explosive materials were legally stored at the enterprise and whether the necessary permits were in place.
Earlier attacks kill one, injure three
The evening explosions followed repeated Russian drone attacks across Kyiv region earlier Friday.
A man was killed in the Bucha district during the morning attack, while another man suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized. A woman in the Fastiv district sustained cuts to her hand.
Later Friday evening, another man was injured in the Boryspil district after suffering a shrapnel wound.
Official updates indicate that at least nine people were injured and one killed across the Kyiv region on Aug. 28.
Damage was reported in the Fastiv, Boryspil, Vyshhorod, Brovary and Bucha districts.
Preliminary figures released before the latest evening strike showed at least 14 warehouses, 16 private homes, three apartment buildings and 16 vehicles damaged.
Nova Poshta depot destroyed
Among the sites hit overnight was a Nova Poshta sorting depot in Sviatopetrivske in the Bucha district, which was destroyed by a Russian drone. A nearby production facility was also damaged.
Local officials said Russia struck the site twice more about an hour after the initial attack while emergency crews were fighting the fire.
Rescuers managed to withdraw to a safer location before the repeated strikes. Nova Poshta said all of its employees survived.
The State Emergency Service warned civilians to stay away from strike sites while emergency work is underway, citing the continuing danger from repeated Russian attacks.
