Ukrainian troops have liberated another 4 square kilometers (1.5 square miles) of territory in the Kupiansk sector of the northeastern Kharkiv region.
On Thursday, the press service of the Khartiia Corps said that soldiers from the 23rd Assault Regiment R.U.G., part of the National Guard’s 2nd Khartiia Corps, cleared new areas between the settlements of Dvorichna and Zapadne as they continued advancing in the sector.
On one section of the operation, the regiment worked alongside troops from Ukraine’s 35th Separate Marine Brigade.
The latest operation brings the total area liberated by the regiment in this part of the Kupiansk sector to 13.5 square kilometers (5.2 square miles), the corps said. Khartiia previously reported that the unit had retaken 9.5 square kilometers (3.6 square miles) in the area.
Drone and helmet-camera footage released by the unit shows Ukrainian assault groups moving through the area and clearing Russian positions.

Kupyansk is a strategically important railway hub in the Kharkiv region that witnessed heavy fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces.
The 23rd Assault Regiment R.U.G. was formed within the National Guard’s 2nd Khartiia Corps. Its personnel include both Ukrainian and foreign troops who carry out assault operations, aerial reconnaissance, and missions involving aerial drones and unmanned ground vehicles.
Khartiia has defended the Kharkiv region since 2022.
According to the corps, R.U.G. troops previously took part in operations to liberate territory north of Kupyansk and clear the city itself. The regiment continues combat operations in the Kupyansk sector.
