Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike against an industrial enterprise in Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region, early Saturday, Sept. 5, killing five people and injuring five others.
Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Head Oleksandr Hanzha stated that three of the injured were hospitalized, including a 30-year-old woman who remains in intensive care.
Prior to the strike, the Ukrainian Air Force had issued warnings regarding high-speed targets approaching Dnipro and Kamianske.
Concurrently, Russian jet-powered “Shahed” attack drones struck a shopping center in the southern city of Mykolaiv late Friday, Sept. 4, and into the early hours of Saturday.
The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that the initial strike hospitalized a 72-year-old man. A subsequent drone struck the same location shortly after, injuring a 17-year-old girl.
The Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne identified the targeted facility as an Epicenter hypermarket, noting that the strikes triggered a significant fire.
Boryspil strike and proposed diplomatic pause
The fatal strikes follow a Russian attack on the Kyiv region on Friday, which damaged a nine-story residential building in the city of Boryspil. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that the strike ignited a fire on the roof and in an upper-floor apartment, prompting an emergency response.
The ongoing Russian aerial campaign coincides with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Friday announcement proposing a mutual halt to air strikes during an upcoming diplomatic mission.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine would refrain from conducting strikes during the scheduled visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow, explicitly calling on Russia to observe the same pause.
“There will be no air strikes from our side, and Russia must do the same,” Zelensky said.
