The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine and grain traders have agreed on the supply of an additional 300,000 tonnes of wheat to foreign markets by the end of the marketing year (July 2012 - June 2013) and are discussing the export of another 200,000 tonnes of this crop.

“We have agreed on the additional export of 300,000 tonnes of wheat.
Moreover, the ministry and grain traders plan in the current month to
agree on the supply of another 200,000 tonnes of wheat to foreign
markets,” the ministry said, with reference to the minister, Mykola
Prysiazhniuk.

Extra wheat exports from the country, according to the minister, are
possible if the winter crops are in good condition. In addition, he said
the total grain supply fully satisfies the domestic demand.

Prysiazhniuk also said that at the present there are profitable prices for grain producers and exporters on the market.

According to the ministry, in the 2012/2013 marketing year grain
exports from Ukraine will be 23 million tonnes. The country has exported
18 million tonnes of grain, which is 5 million tonnes up from the same
period of the previous MY. In particular, corn exports totaled 9 million
tonnes, wheat exports – 6.2 million tonnes, and barley supplies – 2
million tonnes.
