The sanctions imposed on Iran have not significantly affected the country's trade cooperation with Ukraine, Iranian Ambassador to Ukraine Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi has said.
"As for the imposed sanctions, they had a shocking effect during the first days, however over time the implementation of relevant financial and trading operations returned to normal," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, Feb. 29
According to him, in recent years the trade between the two countries has almost doubled, from $600 million to $1.1 billion, thus reflecting the gradual expansion of cooperation between the countries.
"Some European and American banks that sought to complicate the situation with payment operations have primarily created difficulties for themselves. Other countries have found the ways to resolve the issue and continue successful trade relations with our country," the ambassador said.
Gasemi Ali Abadi said that the reports about the problems related to the payments by the enterprises for the supplied products, are a smear campaign. He added that the Iranian Embassy is ready to discuss with representatives of Ukrainian enterprises all the problems, if there are any, and find a way to resolve them.
