You're reading: Average price of gas imports to Ukraine in January is $398.14 per 1,000 cubic meters

The average customs value of gas imported by Ukraine in January 2014 increased by 1.5% ($5.83) compared to December 2013, to $398.14 per 1,000 cubic meters.

These data were posted on the Web site of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The ministry explained this inconsistency with the price for Ukraine declared at the level of $268.50 per 1,000 cubic meters according to the supplementary agreement signed with Gazprom as follows: “It should be noted that the average customs value of imported natural gas, cleared in January 2014, is calculated based on the price of natural gas purchased by Naftogaz Ukrainy in December 2013 in accordance with the terms of the contract.”

The corresponding figure is taken as the actual price of gas produced in the country when calculating fees for using mineral resources.

Thus, despite Naftogaz’s importing natural gas in January at $268.50 per 1,000 cubic meters, the fee for using mineral resources in Ukraine in January will be calculated based on the price of $398.14 for 1,000 cubic meters.

In addition, according to the ministry, the figure of Hr 6,162 per tonne is taken as the January price of crude oil in Ukraine, when calculating fees for subsoil use, which is 3.5% (Hr 222.28 per tonne) less than in December.
