Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has instructed the State Tax Service to halve the number of planned inspections on enterprises this year.

Communicating with the public through Facebook on Jan. 13, he revealed that a meeting had been held on the subject with Oleksandr Klymenko, Head of Ukraine’s State Tax Service.

“We agreed that if the State Tax Service conducted 20,000 planned inspections in 2010, about 11,000 in 2011, then in 2012, they have to work exclusively with those companies that belong to the risk category, and this will at least halve the number of inspections,” Azarov explained.

He also noted that the government was considering regulating the activity of other supervisory bodies, including the fire service inspectorate and sanitary and epidemiological stations.

“I believe that we will make significant progress here,” Azarov said.
