Ukraine is not planning to import sugar in 2013, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said.
"We will not use our import quota for the second year in a row. In 2010 we had to import sugar. But we did not import it this year and last year. We are not planning to import in 2013," he said at a meeting with experts to discuss an import replacement program in Kyiv on Friday.
"We have transiting carry-overs. It is good and bad at the same time. As we have to store 100,000 tonnes [of sugar] and we have to spend money on this. [But] from the viewpoint of maintaining price stability, this is beneficial," Azarov said.
