"Our debt strategy foresees that we will start reducing our state debt from 2013. It is still high for us, but it has not reached a critical point," he said on the Shuster Live show late on Friday.
"We will reduce our public debt only when we have a zero deficit or even a [budget] surplus, i.e. when our revenues will not only cover our expenditures, but part of our revenues will also be used to repay our debt. We are striving for this," he added.
