The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine could fine mobile communications operators MTS Ukraine and Kyivstar for setting roaming tariffs too high.

“A case on roaming is being finished. In my opinion, the infringement
was proved, and MTS and Kyivstar are to be fined,” First Deputy
Antimonopoly Committee Chairman Rafael Kuzmin said at a Web conference
on the Liga.net portal.

He accused the mobile operators of having a policy of double standards.

“I believe that these companies are conducting a policy of double
standards. They submit documents on the reduction of domestic tariffs to
us, and they say in media reports that our calls for a reduction of
tariffs are groundless,” Kuzmin said.

As reported, the committee started an investigation into roaming tariffs in the winter of 2012.

Earlier the committee many times recommended that domestic mobile
operators bring their international roaming tariffs to an economically
justifiable level. The committee said that the operators had reduced
their tariffs.

The committee is also investigating mobile communications tariffs applied inside Ukraine.
