You're reading: Consumer protection inspectorate reveals violations in labeling goods of seven Russian companies

The State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Consumers' Rights Protection after checks on Russian goods in retail chains has revealed violations in labeling the produce of seven companies.

According to a report on the Web site of the authority, the Russian goods are
sold contrary to the requirements of Article 38 of the law on the safety and
quality of food, Articles 15 and 19 of the law on the protection of consumers’
rights and the provision of technical regulations regarding food labeling
rules.

Inspections were conducted under an appeal of the leader of the Svoboda
faction, Ukraine MP Oleh Tiahnybok regarding the non-compliance of most Russian
goods with the requirements of the Ukrainian legislation, as well as numerous
violations of consumers’ rights, when selling goods.

The inspectorate found violations in labeling the goods of the following
Russian confectionery companies: Red October, Babaevsky Confectionery Concern,
Rot Front, Russian Chocolate Factory; Lactalis Istra cheese producer,
Viciunai-Rus and Roskon fish producers.

The agency is taking measures to withdraw these products from major retail
chains.
