You're reading: Energy minister says fuel prices should be cut along with decline in global oil prices

The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine expects that filling stations would reduce fuel prices along with the decline in global oil prices, the ministry's press service has reported, referring to Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn.

“We in the ministry understand that today the high U.S. dollar exchange rate to the national currency and excise duties affect the price of petrol and diesel fuel. However, if we build the market economy, people should feel all its advantages. Oil prices are falling on the global market. People should feel this in their purses,” the press service said, citing the minister.

The ministry on Jan. 13 plan to hold a meeting with the key market players.

“Tomorrow I expect to have a constructive dialog with traders on the reduction of fuel prices,” he said.
