The heads of Russian Gazprom and German E.ON, Alexei Miller and Johannes Teyssen, have discussed the outlook for cooperation in Russian gas deliveries and opportunities for joint projects in the electricity sector, Gazprom said in a statement.

Late last year E.ON had insisted on a review of the price Gazprom charged for gas, although it has so far been unable to secure concessions, according to German media reports.

Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear power puts it in the position of having to expand power generation fueled with natural gas. Gazprom is eager to participate in the development of generating capacity in Germany. Consultations on that score are already underway with Germany Wintershall, RWE and independents, a Gazprom representative said.
