You're reading: Ivano-Frankivsk governor: Ukraine will utilize Poland’s experience to develop Oleska shale gas deposit

IVANO-FRANKIVSK – Mykhailo Vyshyvaniuk, the head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, says that Poland's R&D and experience will be utilized to develop the Oleska shale gas deposit in Ukraine. 

“We will work together with science, drill trial wells and only then we’ll take corresponding decisions. This production we will go hand-in-hand with science,” he said on Wednesday during an international symposium on Ukraine’s energy security strategies.

Vyshyvaniuk said that Poland started the geological prospecting of shale gas fields two years ago. “Poland has experience [in this], and we’ll watch it. We will follow their way, and this gives certain guarantees,” he added.
