You're reading: McDonald’s to increase investment in Ukraine by 25% in 2012

McDonald's Ukraine, an enterprise with foreign investment, is planning in 2012 to increase investment in Ukraine to Hr 200 million, which is 25% up on 2011, Vice President East Division & Managing Director McDonald's Ukraine Ian Borden has said.

"In 2011, we invested about Hr 160 million in business development in Ukraine and paid more than Hr 318 million in taxes and fees. We will continue to increase investment in Ukraine and we intend to invest Hr 200 million in 2012," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, these funds will be invested in the opening of three or four new restaurants, the upgrading of eight restaurants, as well as the opening of at least three McCafe outlets.

"I think that the first restaurant in 2012 will open in May or June," said Borden, without specifying in which city the outlet will open.

In 2011, according to Borden, the company opened one restaurant in Kyiv, updated six restaurants, launched the McDrive system at 22 restaurants and opened seven McCafe coffee houses in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk.

At present, the McDonald’s chain in Ukraine unites 71 outlets in 21 cities, serving about 300,000 visitors every day.

In addition, the company in 2011 launched the McCafe project, opening seven coffee houses.
