You're reading: MTS Ukraine launches 3G network at Zhuliany airport, two trade centers in Kyiv

PJSC MTS Ukraine has launched a UMTS (3G) network at Zhuliany International Airport and the Ocean Plaza and Sky Mall shopping malls in Kyiv, according to a press release issued by the company.

“High-speed mobile Internet in public places will be available to all subscribers of MTS Ukraine without extra charge within the existing 3G and 2G operator’s tariffs,” reads the report.

According to the MTS Ukraine CEO, according to data from the operator, more than 80 percent of all 3G traffic is generated not on the streets but indoors – in shopping centers, sports clubs, business centers, airports, and train stations.

The internal network was deployed on the basis of the indoor solution, antennae located within buildings, which provides high quality services indoors. The network can simultaneously serve about 1,000 subscribers at a speed of up to 35 Mbps.

The operator plans in the near future to launch more than 50 domestic 3G networks in Kyiv and 200 facilities in the major cities of Ukraine.

As reported, MTS Ukraine won the tender for 3G connection on the second lot worth Hr 2.715 billion.
