A senior official at Ukrainian state energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy announced on Jan. 13 that it expects the average annual purchasing price for Russian gas in 2012 to be $415.77 per 1,000 cubic meters

“The price in the first quarter will come to $416 per 1,000 cubic meters, the second and third quarters – $418 per 1,000 cubic meters and fourth quarter – $413 per 1,000 cubic meters. The forecast average price for the year is $415.77 per 1,000 cubic meters," said Naftogaz deputy CEO Vadym Chuprun.

It was earlier reported that Naftogaz imported Russian natural gas in the first quarter of 2011 at $264 per 1,000 cubic meters, $297 in the second quarter, around $355 in the third quarter and approximately $400 in the fourth quarter.

Naftogaz Ukrainy unites Ukraine’s leading oil and gas production enterprises and holds a monopoly on the market of transit shipments and underground storage of natural gas, as well as transportation of crude oil via the country’s pipeline system.
