The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council is planning to complete unscheduled checks on the Volia cable TV operator's activity in Kyiv within two weeks, Volodymyr Manzhosov, the chairman of the council, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"Taking into consideration social tension on the issue [switching off the public’s analogue TV services], we asked our representatives to check within two weeks [on the work of the operator], and after this we will be ready to consider the results of checks at a meeting of the council," he said.

Larysa Mudrak, the deputy chairman of the council, said that the decision on unscheduled checks was made because of numerous complaints from the public and a corresponding letter from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. In particular, about eight complaints in writing and numerous phone calls from the citizens were received by the council regarding the operator switching off the public’s analogue TV services.
