You're reading: New general bill on concessions may be submitted to Rada before autumn – Economy Ministry

A new bill on concessions being drawn up jointly by Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry, State Property Fund and Infrastructure Ministry is scheduled for submission to parliament before autumn 2016, First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Yulia Kovaliv has said.

“We today have four bills on concessions: one general and three specialized ones. We jointly with international partners from the EBRD [the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development] are working out how to attract experts to draw up a common new measure on concessions. The closer the bill is to European rules, the more concessionaires could be attracted to investment,” she said at a roundtable devoted to the privatization of state-run stevedoring companies.

She added that a bill on removing state-run stevedoring companies from the list of companies which are ineligible for privatization should be passed.

“The quickest way to raise investment to the port infrastructure is support of the bill by parliament,” Kovaliv said.
