A new terminal of municipal enterprise Donetsk international airport was commissioned on May 14, 2012.

The press service of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine reported that Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov took part in the opening of the terminal.

The seven-storey terminal has three main floors. The height of the building is 19 meters and the highest part is 23 meters high.

Passenger flows are divided into two zones – arrivals and departures. The Arrivals zone has 20 passport control cabins, four baggage carousels, and two customs checkpoints. An entrance to the bus station is foreseen in this zone.

The check-in zone has 38 check-in stands and two oversized baggage stands. The departures zone has 18 security control lines, 22 passport control cabins and five gates. The capacity of the new terminal is 3,100 passengers per hour.

The gross area of the building is 58,000 square meters, the area of passenger lounges is 5,000 square meters and of commercial facilities – 4,000 square meters.

The ministry said that the airport was named after the famous composer Sergei Prokofiev.

The airport building also includes a bus station, a three-level parking area for 605 cars, outdoor parking area for 1,004 cars and bus parking places for 20 buses. The terminal is linked with the parking zone by two covered galleries. An overpass adjoins the building.

The new terminal will start servicing international flights on May 15, 2012.

During the Euro 2012 European football championship in June the terminal will service international flights and from August 1, 2012 the new terminal will service all flights.
