Moscow – Russia's chief medical officer and Head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko has said that Russia could impose tough sanctions on Ukrainian cheese makers if they supply cheese of poor quality to Russia.
“We will scrutinize all batches in the same way as we did before, and if we find violations in just one batch, we’ll put a ban on supplies of products to the market from your plant for ever,” Onishchenko told journalists in Moscow on Thursday.
He added that all batches of Ukrainian cheese undergo all stages of checks before entering the Russian market.
Onishchenko also said that recently the Lozovsky dairy plant, which supplies its products to the Russian market, experienced problems while receiving permission for supplies. He said there were signs the plant had problems with its cheese production process that could cause violations.
