Only one Ukrainian company currently exports eggs to Israel, over the past year it exported 32 million eggs to four countries, the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The service clarified that the Ukrainian side was informed about the suspected Salmonella Enteritidis bacteria content in the batch of eggs delivered to Israel from Ukraine on Jan. 6.

“Under the order of the Deputy Chief State Inspector of Veterinary Medicine on January 6 it was decided to conduct anti-epizootic checks on the enterprises engaged in exports of edible eggs to Israel,” the service reported.

At the same time, biological materials were selected for research in the relevant regional state laboratory of veterinary medicine and the National Research Institute for Laboratory and Veterinary Diagnostics in Kyiv.

“The investigations are continuing. Both the Israeli side and the Ukrainian society will be informed on the results of research,” the agency added.
