The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has sent the Customs Code of Ukraine to the profile committee for revision.

A total of 257 of the 414 MPs registered in the session hall voted for this decision on Thursday.

The Verkhovna Rada passed the Customs Code on Nov. 3, 2011.

The president vetoed the Customs Code approved by parliament, claiming the document contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine and the current legislation of the state.

According to him, the bill violates the right to engage in entrepreneurship, and creates conditions for the growth of administrative pressure, as well as lacking a specific procedure of customs control.

In addition, the president said that the new version of the Customs Service could result in a violation of Ukraine’s obligations to the World Trade Organization.

The MPs decided that the document should be revised.
