You're reading: Poll shows only 4 percent of Ukrainians ready to open own business

Only 4 percent of Ukrainians are ready to open their own business without fear of any difficulties and obstacles, while 25.7 percent do not want to do business because it is not possible with the current level of corruption in Ukraine, according to a survey conducted by the Socis center for social and marketing research under the order of 1+1 TV Channel.

Thus, according to the survey, 14.8 percent of respondents are ready to start their own business, but do not see the possibility to pay all taxes in Ukraine, 11.4 percent want to start their own business, but are afraid of red tape, while 22.2 percent of respondents want to work as wage employees.

In addition, when doing business 48.9 percent of Ukrainians would focus on the Ukrainian market, 25.9 percent on the European market (most of those polled in the west of Ukraine), 7.8 percent on the Russian market (such sentiments dominate in the east of Ukraine).

According to the survey, 31.3 percent of respondents would appeal to friends or relatives for start-up capital, 27.6 percent would use own savings, 14.4 percent would take out a bank loan, 11.8 percent would take part in EU competitions and programs.

The survey was conducted from August 18 to August 23, 2016. Some 1,483 respondents throughout Ukraine were interviewed, with the exception of Crimea and the ATO zone. The error margin does not exceed 2.6 percent.
