Companies from Russia during the second year of the reintroduction of Ukraine's import quota for steel seamless casing and compressor pipes from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 gained licenses to supply 12,495 tonnes of pipes, using 99.91% of the annual quota of 12,506 tonnes.
The Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry gave Interfax-Ukraine pipe import data as of October 1, 2012.
Austrian companies received licenses to supply 364 tonnes of pipes, or 14.13% of the quota of 2,577 tonnes.
Polish companies (1,158 tonnes), Romanian companies (220 tonnes), Slovakian companies (180 tonnes), India (76 tonnes) and Chinese companies (51 tonnes) did not receive licenses.
Other companies also did not get licenses for 823 tonnes of the quota.
According to the ministry, as of October 1, 2012 all countries, including Russia, got licenses for the supply of 73.1% (12,859 tonnes) of the annual quota (16,753 tonnes) of the second year of its reintroduction.
As reported, companies from Russia and other countries from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012 jointly supplied 94.74% of Ukraine’s import quota for steel seamless casing and compressor pipes during the first year of its reintroduction, and gained licenses to supply 15,872 tonnes of pipes, with the annual quota being 16,753 tonnes.
The ministry said that Russian companies used up 99.92% of their quota, receiving licenses to supply 11,900 tonnes of pipes, with the quota being 11,910 tonnes.
Austrian companies received licenses to supply 2,454 tonnes of pipes, or 99.97% of the quota of 2,455 tonnes.
Polish companies used 52.97% of their quota of 1,103 tonnes to supply 584.21 tonnes and Romanian companies used 91.39% of their quota of 209 tonnes to supply 191 tonnes.
At the same time, Slovakian companies (171 tonnes), India (73 tonnes) and Chinese companies (49 tonnes) did not receive licenses.
Other companies used 94.8% of their quota of 783 tonnes to supply 742.252 tonnes.
As reported, Ukraine on September 30, 2011 prolonged the quotas it imposed in 2008 on the import of steel seamless casing and compressor pipes, irrespective of the country of origin, with the annual expansion of quotas being 5%.
