You're reading: Russia’s S7 airline from June 9 launches Moscow-Odesa flights

Russia's S7 Airline on April 26, 2012 finished an audit of Odesa international airport, the airport's press service has reported.

The press service said that checks were made on continuous airworthiness management, the mechanical supervisor service, the special-purpose vehicle service, the onboard food workshop and passenger servicing organization service. The airline also checked the level of training of airport employees and if the airport had certificates to carry out special-purpose work (of high danger or high complexity).

Guided by the audit results, S7 representatives confirmed their initial plans to launch Moscow-Odesa flights from June 9, 2012, and the airline has asked for slots for the winter period.

The airport said that under international rules, airlines audit the airport before starting cooperation to determine the correspondence of the latter to the carrier’s requirements.

As reported, Russia’s S7 Airline planned from May 26 to launch regular flights between Moscow and Odesa. An Airbus 319 would be used for the flight, which would be performed every day.

Russian airlines Aeroflot and UTair are also planning in the summer of 2012 to launch regular flights between Moscow and Odesa.

In addition, UTair airline plans to launch flights from Odesa to Kyiv’s Zhuliany Airport and fly up to six times a day to Boryspil and Zhuliany airports in Ukraine in summer.

Odesa International Airport occupies an area of 571.14 hectares. The airport has one runway with a length of 2,800 meters and a width of 56 meters. The airport has one passenger terminal and a cargo complex.

In 2011, the airport increased passenger flows by 17% on 2010, to 824,300 people. The number of flights grew by 8% in a year, to 14,734.
