You're reading: Sunflower oil output in Ukraine grows to record in 2013/14 agri-year

Ukraine in the 2013/14 agricultural year (September-August) produced 4.65 million tonnes of unrefined sunflower oil, which is 1.14 million tonnes or 32.5 percent more than in the previous season, the Ukroliyaprom association has reported.

“In 2013/14 agri-year Ukraine produced a record of unrefined sunflower oil – 4.65 million tonnes, compared to 3.51 million tonnes in 2012/13 agri-year,” reads the report, citing Director General Stepan Kapshuk.

Production of soybean oil grew by 36.8 percent, to almost 130,000 tonnes, and rapeseed oil output soared by 15 times, to over 60,000 tonnes.

Ukroliyaprom said that 80 percent of these products are exported. Last agri-year 4.2 million tonnes of sunflower oil was exported, compared to 3.24 million tonnes in 2012/13 agri-year. The key countries that import Ukrainian sunflower oil are India, the EU countries, the Middle East and China.
