You're reading: Ukraine 10th in global steel producers rating in February with 1.6% fall in steel smelting

Ukraine in February 2012 decreased steel production by 1.6% year-over-year, being the tenth in the ranking of the 59 main steel producers compiled by the World Steel Association (WSA).

The top ten producers in February 2012 included China with 55.883 million tonnes (a 3.3% increase year-over-year), Japan with 8.608 million tonnes (a 3.7% decline), the Untied States with 7.26 million tonnes (an 8.5% rise), India with 5.7 million tonnes (a 0.6% decline), Russia with 5.575 million tonnes (a 0.4% rise), South Korea with 5.449 million tonnes (a 7.6% decline), Germany with 3.383 million tonnes (a 3.1% decline), Brazil with 2.778 million tonnes (a 3.4% rise), Turkey with 2.762 million tonnes (a 12.3% rise) and Ukraine with 2.68 million tonnes (a 1.6% decline).

A rise in steel production in February 2012 from February 2011 was recorded in the major part of the top ten countries, apart from Japan, India, Germany and Ukraine.

Major steel producing countries (59 countries) in February 2012 smelted 119.183 million tonnes of steel, which was 1.9% up on February 2011.

In January-February Major steel producing countries smelted 241.409 million tonnes of steel, which was 0.6% up on January and February 2011.

In January-February 2012, the top ten producers included China with 112.616 million tonnes (a 2.2% increase year-over-year), Japan with 17.238 million tonnes (a 7.3% decline), the Untied States with 14.967 million tonnes (a 7.8% rise), India with 11.8 million tonnes (a 0.7% decline), Russia with 11.523 million tonnes (a 0.4% rise), South Korea with 11.223 million tonnes (a 4.6% rise), Germany with 6.951 million tonnes (a 5.6% decline), Turkey with 5.897 million tonnes (a 13.4% rise), Brazil with 5.589 million tonnes (a 2.5% rise) and Ukraine with 5.551 million tonnes (a 1.6% decline).

Ukraine in December 2011 was ninth, in November the country was eighth, in October it was ninths, in September tenth, August tenth and July tenth.

Ukraine in 2011 increased steel production by 5.7% year-over-year, being the eighth in the ranking of the 64 main steel producers compiled by the WSA.

In 2011, sixty four countries put out 1.49 billion tonnes of steel, which was 6.8% up on 2010.

The top ten producers in 2011 included China with 683.265 million tonnes (a 9% rise year-over-year), Japan with 107.595 million tonnes (a 2% decline), the Untied States with 86.247 million tonnes (a 7% rise), India with 72 million tonnes (a 6% rise), Russia with 68.743 million tonnes (a 3% rise), South Korea with 68.471 million tonnes (16% rise), Germany with 44.288 million tonnes (a 1% rise), Ukraine with 35.332 million tonnes (a 5.7% rise), Brazil with 35.162 million tonnes (a 7% rise) and Turkey with 34.103 million tonnes (a 17% rise).
