Ukraine reduced gas transit to Europe and other CIS countries by 20.7% year-on-year in January-November 2012 to 75.04 bcm.

The press office of Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy, said transit to Western Europe fell 21.3% to 72.6 bcm, and transit to the CIS fell 2.8% to 2.66 bcm.

In November alone, gas transit via Ukraine fell 35% year-on-year to 6.108 bcm, with transit to Europe down 35.8% to 5.807 bcm and transit to the CIS down 13.5% to 300.81 mcm.

Ukrtransgaz also supplied 41.5 bcm of gas to domestic consumers in the 11M, 8.9% less than in the same period of last year.

Gas transit via Ukraine to Europe and the CIS increased 5.7% to 104.198 bcm last year.

Ukrtransgaz operates Ukraine’s system of trunk gas pipelines and underground storage facilities. It has 72 compressor stations, 110 workshops and 1,451 gas distribution stations. The pipelines it operates run for 38,600 kilometers, including 22,200 km of trunk pipeline and 16,400 km of pipeline branches.

The throughput capacity of Ukraine’s gas transport system is 288 bcm at inlet and 178.5 bcm at outlet, including 142.5 bcm to Europe and 3.5 bcm to Moldova.
